What We DoThe work carried out by the Pro Bono Society is two pronged. Primarily we work with local charities through regular volunteer placements.
This can be anything from helping to feed the homeless to working as Appropriate Adults. Secondary to that we also fundraise and give the proceeds to a variety of local charities. Our Clothing bin is on campus! After trying for a number of years, we’ve finally got a clothing bin positioned on campus. All clothes donated will be given to the Whitechapel Mission |
Our Partner CharitiesWe are always looking to expand our connections with local charities and aim to set up new links on a regular basis. Currently we are working with three very different charities. Our members regularly volunteer at the Whitechapel Mission, a local charity which aims to feed and clothe the homeless.
In 2014, we set up links with City and Hackney MIND, a charity which focuses on mental health, our members have been involved in various programmes that they run and we hope this will continue to grow. We have also worked with the Holy Cross centre for a few years and continue to do so. |
Get Involved! We are always looking for new members to get involved in the activities ran by the charities department.
Every month we need students to help out at the Whitechapel Mission, despite the early start, it’s always rewarding! If you would like to be involved on a more long-term basis, our placements with MIND tend to run for a number of consecutive weeks. Contact us at [email protected] if you have any issues. |
